Terms of Service
Effective October 16, 2026
This is an English translation of the Korean original. To the extent permitted by law, if the two differ, the Korean version governs.
1. The operator and these terms
These terms set out the conditions for using the Minikong app and subscription service (the ‘Service’). The Service is provided by the operator named below (an individual; the ‘operator’, also ‘we’ or ‘us’). If you download and use the app, or buy a subscription or a gift subscription, you are deemed to have agreed to these terms, and you enter into a contract with the operator under these terms.
Operator: 김양현 (an individual)
Contact: kimyanghyeon12@gmail.com or the contact form
2. The service
- Free: downloading the app; spelling, spacing and typo checks that run on your computer; the review window and Paste (복붙하기); the default character.
- Subscription (paid): AI spelling and grammar checks, translation (Korean ↔ English), tone polishing and additional characters. AI features send text only after you give separate consent in the app, and they cannot be used by anyone under 14.
3. Reseller (Paddle)
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Payment, tax, receipts and refunds are handled by Paddle, and the Paddle Checkout Buyer Terms also apply to payments. The Service itself is provided by the operator.
4. Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation
- Subscriptions are monthly or yearly, and they renew and are charged automatically on the same cycle until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you can keep using the Service until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- To cancel, go to Settings → Subscription & AI (구독·AI) → Manage subscription (구독 관리, the Paddle customer portal) in the app, or use the link in your Paddle receipt email (paddle.net).
- If a renewal payment is overdue, you can keep using the Service for 7 days after the period ends; after that, AI features stop. While Paddle is retrying the payment, you can change your payment method in Manage subscription. On-device checking remains available.
- Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy.
5. Gift subscriptions
- Gift subscriptions are available for 1, 3 or 12 months, and the period starts the moment the recipient redeems the code in the app. A code does not expire before it is redeemed.
- If the recipient is already using a gifted period, the new period is added to the end of it. On a device with an auto-renewing subscription, the code can be redeemed after the subscription ends.
- A code can be redeemed only once. Once the recipient has redeemed it, the code cannot be used again; the recipient’s other devices are registered with the device code shown under Show code for another device (다른 기기 등록 코드 보기) in the app. If the payment is refunded, the code can no longer be used.
6. Devices and fair-use limits
- The number of devices and the limits of a pass (the entitlement that comes with a subscription or gift subscription) are the values in effect when that pass is created (when a subscription starts or a gift subscription is purchased). Passes created now come with the following.
- One pass can be used on up to 3 devices. If you unlink a device in the app, you can register another device.
- AI spelling and grammar checks are limited to 300 per day and 3,000 per month, and translation and tone polishing combined to 100,000 characters per month (a day starts at 0:00 Korea time, and a month at 0:00 on the 1st of each month). Text sent in a single request is limited to 2,000 characters for an AI check and 5,000 characters for translation or polishing.
- If you exceed a limit, only the AI features pause for the rest of that period. AI features may also pause temporarily if the AI costs of the Service as a whole reach the operating cap or an AI provider has an outage.
- If the limits change, we will announce it on the pricing page, and the changed limits will apply to passes created after that.
7. Limits of AI output
Suggestions, translations and polished text produced by AI, and suggestions from on-device checking, may be wrong or may change the meaning. Please check them before you send or use them. Whether to use the results is up to you.
8. Prohibited use
- Selling pass codes or device registrations, or sharing a pass among several people beyond the device limit
- Sending large volumes of requests to the servers with automated programs, circumventing limits or security measures, or interfering with the Service
- Using the Service to break the law or to infringe the rights of others
If any of these is confirmed, the operator may restrict your use or revoke your pass (for a subscription, the Paddle subscription is also cancelled). If a payment is refunded or charged back, the pass is revoked and the Paddle subscription is cancelled, so there are no further payments.
9. Rights
The rights to the app, the characters and the website belong to the operator or to their original rights holders. You receive a personal right to use the Service, and you may not copy or redistribute the app or the characters without permission. The rights to the text you write remain with you.
10. Service changes, suspension and liability
- We do not guarantee that the Service will run without interruptions or errors. It may stop because of maintenance, outages or problems with outside services (Cloudflare, Paddle or AI providers).
- If the operator ends the subscription service for the operator’s own reasons, the operator will announce it on this website 30 days in advance and issue refunds through Paddle in proportion to the remaining period.
- Except in cases of intent or gross negligence, the operator is not liable, to the extent permitted by applicable law, for indirect damages arising from use of the Service.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will announce the change on this page 7 days before it takes effect (30 days before for changes that are unfavorable to users).
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes will be heard by the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises, please let the operator know first via kimyanghyeon12@gmail.com or the contact form.
